4th Brightlingsea Ottowa Beavers, have a full Colony running with maximum 24 Children, and many more wanting to join on our ever growing Waiting List. Beavers is for Children aged 6-8 years of age. To supervise our weekly and occasional weekend meetings, we have 4 Adult Leaders, and 3 Young Leaders.

We are a very active Colony, and during  Year we will work towards many Badges and Activities some including Safety in Home and Away, Visits from our Local Services, Promise and Friendship Challenges, Fitness Badges, IT Badges, Knots, Grid References, Animal Care not forgetting Games and Craft.

During the Warmer Summer Term, we try to get out and about as much as possible with Meetings being held outside, Games, Hikes, Boating Lake, Visits to Thorrington Campsite,  etc.

We also aim to cover every requirement of all 6 Challenge Badges over a 2 year period, which will enable each Beaver to work towards completing the highest award in Scouting being the Bronze Award.

We take part in many District/County Events during the Year, some being St. George’s Day Parade in Colchester, JOTT (Jamboree on the Trail), Rambles at Thorrington,  County Fun Day, Dabble Day Craft, and many more as and when they arise

Every year Beavers go away on several camps. On our main themed camp Beavers can get the opportunity to experience activities like Crate Stacking,  Climbing in the Bouldering Hut, Climbing Tower, Pond Dipping, Blind Trails, and many many more.

The Colony is run as a very traditional Colony, keeping all the original values of Scouting, whilst teaching the Beavers an Introduction into Scouting, and getting them ready to move on, and upward into our Cub Pack.
